چکیده

Introduction: Previous studies of the radiographic progression of knee osteoarthritis (OA) have yielded highly inconsistent estimates of the overall rate and variability of joint space narrowing (JSN)—a surrogate for loss of articular cartilage. Published estimates of the annual rate of JSN in these studies, all of which relied on the conventional standing anteroposterior (AP) radiograph, have varied ten-fold, from 0.06–0.60 mm/yr, with coefficients of variation (CV) of JSN ranging from 200–400% [1].

Functional Outcome and Incidence of Osteoarthritis in Operated Tibial Plateau Fractures

Background: In the challenging tibial condyle fractures despite anatomical joint reconstruction, development ofosteoarthritis may still occur secondary to the initial articular cartilage and meniscal injury. The aim of the study wasto know incidence of osteoarthritis in our operated cases of tibial plateau fracture and to evaluate functional outcome. Methods: Our operated 60 patients of tibial p...

Comparison of Double and Single Leg Weight-Bearing Radiography in Determining Knee Alignment

Background: Knee malalignment is an important modifiable cause of osteoarthritis (OA). Surgical therapeutic procedures depend on proper knee alignment assessment. The purpose of this study was to compare knee alignment parameters between double and single leg weight-bearing radiographs and to evaluate the reproducibility of inter- and intra-observer measurements. Methods: One hundred eight p...

Long- Stem Total Knee Arthroplasty for Proximal Tibial Stress Fractures in the Elderly Patients

Background: Presentation of proximal tibia stress fracture is not infrequent among elderly patients due to their poorbone stock. Optimal management of patients with severe gonarthrosis of the knee and concurrent tibial stress fracture isnot known yet. In this study we report the outcome of primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA) using stemmed componentsin elderly patients. Methods: Between 2009 an...

The correlation between magnetic resonance detected cartilage defects and spiking of tibial tubercles in osteoarthritis of the knee joint.

The aim of the study was to ascertain whether spiking of the tibial tubercle is associated with cartilage defects detected by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in patients with osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee joint. Angulation of the tip of the medial and lateral tubercles, and the height of the tubercles above the tibial plateau were measured on a standard anteroposterior radiograph of the knee...

Cartilage Degeneration and Alignment in Severe Varus Knee Osteoarthritis

OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between cartilage, ligament, and meniscus degeneration and radiographic alignment in severe varus knee osteoarthritis in order to understand the development of varus knee osteoarthritis. DESIGN Fifty-three patients (71 knees) with primary varus knee osteoarthritis and who underwent total knee arthroplasty were selected for this ...
